Transportation Options & Parking
Metrobus route G2 stops at the Healy Gate (37th and O Streets, N.W.). The G2 bus connects to the Metro subway at the Dupont Circle Metro station (near 20th and Q Streets, N.W.)
Metrobus route D3 and D6 stops at 38th Street and Reservoir Road, N.W., on the Medical Center side of campus. The D3 and D6 buses connect to the Metro subway at Dupont Circle Metro station.
Metrobus routes D1 and D2 provide nearby service to 35th and Q Streets, N.W. (about 3 blocks from Healy Gate). The D1 and D2 buses connect to the Metro subway at Dupont Circle Metro station.
The Metro subway stations closest to Georgetown University are Dupont Circle station (at 20th & Q Streets, N.W.) and Rosslyn station (located across the Key Bridge in Rosslyn, Va., with entrances at North Moore Street & Wilson Blvd., and on Fort Myer Drive between 19th Street & Wilson Blvd.).
GEORGETOWN UNIVERSITY TRANSPORTATION SHUTTLE (GUTS)
Georgetown University offers shuttle services for students, faculty, staff and visitors traveling to and from the university campus and nearby Metrorail stations. The Georgetown University Transportation Shuttle (GUTS) operates five weekday shuttle routes from 5 a.m. – 12 a.m. daily, connecting the Main and Medical Center Campuses to the following locations:
- Rosslyn Metro (Virginia)
- Dupont Circle Metro (Washington, D.C.)
- Georgetown University Law Center (Washington, D.C.)
- University offices on Wisconsin Avenue (Washington, D.C.)
- Multiple stops in North Arlington (Virginia)
Students, faculty and staff may ride on any GUTS route at no charge with a valid Georgetown University ID card. Georgetown University Hospital physicians, staff and patients may ride the Rosslyn and Dupont shuttles for free with a valid ID. Visitors to the campus may also ride free of charge by showing a picture ID at the time of boarding. Buses with wheelchair lifts are available on all GUTS routes.
The university uses a biodiesel blend for it’s fleet of GUTS buses as part of its goal to reduce Georgetown’s carbon footprint by 50 percent by 2020.

Three airports provide service to the Washington, D.C. area.
Reagan-Washington National Airport (DCA) is the closest airport to the Georgetown campus and has its own Metro subway stop.
Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI) is about 40 miles north of campus and has commercial shuttle vans and taxi service to the Washington area. BWI also has a free connector bus that serves the MARC Commuter Rail and Amtrak station, which provides train service to Washington’s Union Station, located on the Metro’s Red Line. The B30 bus line also runs every forty minutes from BWI Airport to the Greenbelt Metro Station, which is on the Green Line.
Washington-Dulles International Airport (IAD) is located approximately 25 miles west of Washington and can be reached by shuttle van, taxi or using airport van service between the airport and the West Falls Church Metro Station, which is on the Orange Line. Metro also runs the 5A bus line from Rosslyn metro station (Orange/Blue lines) to Dulles Airport.
PARKING ON CAMPUS
Parking at Georgetown is very limited, but there are some locations to park on campus. The entrance near 38th Street and Reservoir Road, N.W. leads to the Southwest Garage.

MAIN CAMPUS AND MEDICAL CENTER
Georgetown University’s Main Campus is located at 3700 O St., N.W., Washington D.C. ,with the Georgetown University Medical Center located close by at 4000 Reservoir Road, N.W. Driving directions below are for the Main Campus garage off of Canal St. NW. Street parking is available but limited and restricted.
From Baltimore and Points North
Follow I-95 South and exit onto 495 West (Capital Beltway). Continue on 495 to George Washington Memorial Parkway. Follow the parkway toward Washington, D.C., and exit onto Key Bridge. Cross Key Bridge and turn left onto M Street. Go through one light and turn right into Georgetown University. Follow signs to visitor parking.
From Richmond and Points South
Follow I-95 North to 395 to Route 27 (Washington Boulevard.) Once on Route 27, carefully watch for signs that lead you through Rosslyn to the Key Bridge. Follow the signs and cross Key Bridge, then turn left onto M Street. Go through one light and turn right into Georgetown University. Follow signs to visitor parking.
From Pittsburgh and Points West
Follow the Pennsylvania Turnpike East to Exit 12 (Breezewood.) Follow I-70 South to Frederick, where 270 South begins and continue on 270 South toward Washington, D.C. When 270 South intersects with 495 (Capital Beltway), keep right and follow 495 toward Northern Virginia. Continue on 495 to George Washington Memorial Parkway. Follow the parkway toward Washington and exit onto Key Bridge. Cross Key Bridge and turn left onto M Street. Go through one light and turn right into Georgetown University. Follow signs to visitor parking.
From Dulles International Airport
Ask the taxi driver to take you to Georgetown University at 37th and O Streets, N.W., Washington, D.C. The ride to Georgetown is a long one, so expect to pay $60 or more.
Rental Car Directions
Leave the airport using the Dulles Access Road (the only road out of the airport.) Stay on the Access Road – do not take any exits. After approximately 20 miles you will pass signs for I-495. Stay on the Access Road, which eventually will take you to I-66 Eastbound. You will know you have reached I-66 when you make a looping left turn over a freeway and enter traffic from the right side of the roadway. Stay on I-66 until you see a sign for Key Bridge and The Newseum. The exit for the bridge will be on your right. Take the exit, continue through two lights, then move into the left-hand lane. At the third light, turn left and move to the center lanes. Go across the bridge and move into the left lanes. The Key Bridge dead ends at M Street. Turn left onto M Street, go through one light and turn right into Georgetown University. Follow signs to visitor parking.
From Reagan National Airport
In the airport terminal look for signs indicating the direction to the MetroRail. Take the blue line Metro to Rosslyn. Get off at Rosslyn, go to the top of the escalator stairs, make a U-turn and walk out to the street. Turn to your left and walk up the sidewalk until you are at the corner of 19th and Moore Streets. You will see a blue bus stop sign that says GU transportation shuttle (GUTS). Wait for the Georgetown University Transportation Shuttle (GUTS) bus. The shuttle will give you a free ride to the University and will let you off in the heart of campus at the Leavey Center. Please note that the GUTS bus does not run on Saturday mornings or on Sunday.
Tell the taxi driver you want to go to Georgetown University. Expect to pay at least $15. You are crossing from one state into another and the fees are higher because of this.
Ask your rental car company’s staff for directions to the Key Bridge in Rosslyn. Since there are many rental car locations, we are unable to provide specific directions from each one here. Once you get to the Key Bridge, cross Key Bridge and turn left onto M Street. Go through one light. Turn right into Georgetown University. Follow signs to visitor parking.
From Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI)
Tell the taxi driver you want to go to Georgetown University. Expect to pay at least $95. You are crossing from one state into another and the fees are higher because of this.
You can take a shuttle bus from the airport to the MARC train station. The ride to Union Station will cost $5. Amtrak trains travel frequently from BWI to Union Station. MARC trains run Monday through Friday. Please visit the website for train schedules.
Take the B30 Express Metrobus to Greenbelt Metro station, and arrive at Rosslyn station by subway. The bus costs $3. From Rosslyn, take a taxi or the Georgetown University Transportation Shuttle (GUTS) bus to the University. Please note that the GUTS bus does not run on Saturday mornings or on Sunday.
Exit the airport taking I-195 West. Follow I-95 South and exit onto 495 West (Capital Beltway). Continue on 495 to George Washington Memorial Parkway. Follow the parkway toward Washington, D.C., and exit onto Key Bridge. Cross Key Bridge and turn left onto M Street. Go through one light and turn right into Georgetown University. Follow signs to visitor parking.
